PHASE 1 | Development of the Pledge | July – November 2021
The Pledge was officially launched at the UNFCCC COP26 meeting in Glasgow on 10 November 2021.

PHASE 2 | Development of the Roadmap | October 2021 – November 2022
The roadmap was developed with an iterative process whereby all supporters were invited to provide feedback (webinars held in March and May, drafts sent for review in May and July). The final document is now ready and officially released on 11 November 2022 at the UNFCCC COP27 meeting in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).

NZCE ROADMAP 2022 Executive Summary
Two documents were released early 2022:
The results of a survey designed to gather insights from the group of supporters on the key challenges and opportunities for achieving net zero in the events industry by 2050 the latest and to find out where participants are on their net zero journey.

PHASE 3 | Workstreams to Deliver on Roadmap | October 2022 – December 2023
8 workstreams have been identified to deliver on the priorities identified by the Roadmap (Measurement, Reporting, Carbon offsetting, Venue energy, Production and Waste, Food and food waste, Logistics, Travel and Accommodation). Those workstreams released their reports and methodologies in December 2023:

About Travel Balance
The Trade Show Travel balance: Measuring the B2B Trade Show Industry’s Role in Saving Attendees’ Travel, Time and Money” NZCE report – January 2024
This document released by the Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) initiative shares the results and learnings from a two-year pilot project from a NZCE subgroup focused on the concept of travel consolidation.
Members of the group were Clarion, Emerald, Informa, RX and Tarsus (now part of Informa) with the ongoing coordination through UFI, The Global Association for the Exhibition Industry, and support from management consultancy Clarasys.
Results are shared as a project update and in the spirit of transparency so that others can follow and help us scale the study.
